Life is about constant, predictable patterns of change, and the only constant factor will be our feelings and attitudes toward life. We as human beings have the power of attitude and that attitude determines choice, and choice determines results. All that we are and all that we can become has indeed been left to us to decide and interpret through our attitude and choices.

Start at the end. What’s your wildest dream? Maybe it’s not as crazy as colonizing Mars, but it should feel like a stretch. Start there and work backward. Identify 10 steps to get from that big goal to where you are now. Reach out. Pride comet before the fall. No matter how sharp or talented you are, there’s a good chance you would be even better with help. If you’re dealing with tough circumstances, ask for a favor. Look inward. If your current situation has you frustrated and craving new surroundings, take a thorough personal inventory before making any change. Are things really that bad, or is your attitude the problem? Pursue passion. If your day-to-day doesn’t revolve around projects you’re truly passionate about, take a step back and outline activities that do align with your strongest feelings. Eat with info. Food companies can be pretty tricky when hiding unhealthy ingredients. Your vitality is crucial to your success. Pay extra attention to what you’re putting into your body. Open up. When dealing with large scale change, the tendency can be to resist. Relax, and open yourself to the possibilities. When journalism, write down three best-case outcomes of the new change. Let go. Holding onto past disappointments and heartache doesn’t serve you now. This weekend, resolve to revisit places and things you’ve avoided to protect your emotions. Lean into the future. Talk it out. Our relationships define us. Friendships, family ties and bonds with romantic partners are our greatest source of happiness. VIVA VIGAN♥

VIGAN CITY, September 20 (PIA) -- Vigan City, as the only heritage city in the Philippines, once again celebrates the World Heritage Cities Solidarity Cultural Festival for the whole month of September.


“Join us as we once again celebrate our unique culture this September with various activities,” Mayor Juan Carlos S. Medina said as he invites visitors and residents alike to enjoy interesting activities lined up for this year.


Other events of the festival from September 3 to 7 include singing competitions, photography, zarzuela Ilocana (Ilocano stage play), dallot (a part of the Ilocano oral tradition of debate through singing), kinnantaran (a form of debate between a man and a woman through singing), cultural quiz, sabayang pagbigas (speech choir), daniw (poetry), storytelling, writing on the history of Vigan as told by senior residents, painting, and folk dancing.


In the morning of September 8, the Solidarity Mass and renewal of pledge to heritage conservation was held at Vigan Cathedral while the history of Vigan came alive in a street drama and Solidarity parade in the afternoon. At night, a cultural show was showcased.

NEW YEAR, NEW ME♥

Many Filipino people unite on New Year’s Eve, which is on December 31, to celebrate a midnight meal known as the Media Noche. It is also common to stay awake to greet the coming of the New Year. New Year’s Day is also characterized by Filipinos by lighting firecrackers and making a lot of noise to drive away evil spirits.

The elderly encourage children to jump at the stroke of midnight so that they would grow up tall. Many people display 12 circular fruits and wear clothing with polka dots to symbolize money. It is also popular practice to open all the doors and windows at the stroke of midnight to let in the good luck. Many Filipino families also read the Christian bible and attend a church midnight mass.

Soul of Christmas

Every person has his own priorities, his own wants and needs. Some people may choose material things, while others may prefer tangible ones such as love, peace, prosperity and good health among others. No matter what these people wish for these holiday season, what matters most is that the desires of their hearts are granted as long as nobody is hurt, right?

This Christmas season, it is important for us to bear in our minds the reason why we are celebrating this yuletide season in the first place. In this month of December, it is a must for us to remember that our Lord came in this world in order to save us from our sins; He came to redeem us from the wickedness of this world.

We also have to recollect the fact that our Lord God is humble being born only in a manger. This is the message that is sent to us - we must learn how to humble ourselves, no matter how rich or financially wealthy we are because Christ himself symbolizes humility. Even though He is a son of God, He did not demanded for a special “birthing place” or become “man” in a wealthy family; instead, He was born in a poor family.

Anyway, the essence of celebrating Christmas season is not to have a house full of Christmas lights, having a tall and beautiful Christmas tree full of gifts underneath it and giving expensive gifts. Christmas basically means sharing what you have, not just the material things but also those that can only be felt like a warm, tight hug, a simple thank you, showing our appreciation to our loved ones and forgiveness among others.

Although violence is a threat to everyone, women and children are particularly susceptible to victimization because they often have fewer rights or lack appropriate means of protection. In some societies certain types of violence are deemed socially or legally acceptable, thereby contributing further to the risk to women and children.

 The Filipino Values Month is being celebrated by Filipinos every November. The theme for this year is Pamilyang Pilipino Patatagin: Susi sa Kabataang Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, at Makabaansa. The theme is about making the families of the Filipinos solid. It will be the key in making the youth to be religious, humane, industrious or nature lover, and nationalist.

      It is important that every youth has a happy, solid, and healthy family. Their parents were the one who will guide them and teach them the right thing to do. In this way every youth will grow up knowing what is good, and this youths will be able to know how to be religious, humane, nature lover, and how to love his country. A healthy family will give the youth a good attitude. 

     This will be a step to make our nation solid, happy and healthy.
